Walking

There are loads of walking books in the library with short interesting walks and long days out - what ever you prefer. We suggest:

  • Go for a sea trip
    • The Seafari from Armadale pier

    • Boat trip from Elgol to Loch Curuisk
  • Go for great food and drink
    • Have a pint at the Stein Inn at Waternish followed by Loch Bay Langoustines (to die for!!)
    • Go for dinner at the Three Chimneys, the Old School in Dunvegan, The Flodigarry Hotel at Troternish, The Ullinish Hotel
    • Get fish and chips from the bakery at Dunvegan or the fish and chip shop on the Quay at Portree
  • Explore what the Skye shops and galleries have to offer
    • Explore the craft, art and local 'shops' - found in front rooms across the island!!! (goodies include Skye Silver, Skye Skins, Skye Lights and loads of little galleries). The Photographs on our wall came from the three Herons Studio in Broadford and the paintings from the gallery on the shore at Stein.
  • Do something different
    • Visit the Reptillium at Broadford
    • Visit the Talisker distillery (at Talisker) and the Gaelic Whiskey Company in Isle of Ornsay
  • Get a bit of culture
    • Go to Corbost Croft Museum and the Bagpipe Museum and Toy Museum in Glendale
    • Check out what's on through the Tourist information points - there are good ones at Portree and Dunvegan
    • Check out Aros Centre at Portree - there may be music and concerts on if you're interested
  • Visit the other islands
    • Rasaay is great and an easy visit to do in a day - have coffee in the Rasaay Hotel
    • Take an island hop to Lewis and Harris and the smaller islands from the Ferry Pier at Uig and Armadale you can check what's on from the Caledonian McBrane website.
  • But Mostly
    • Sit back, enjoy Shoormal and relax!!
